Stuff.co.nz announce the release of KohiKAI
A new app to issue and track customary fishing permits is being heralded as a game-changer – now the pressure is on for the recreational sector to step up, its developer says.
The KohiKai app allows people to apply for customary permits electronically, and for kaitiaki issuing the permits to get real-time data on the size and location of the catch.
The Te Tau Ihu Forum, made up of the eight iwi in the top of the South, commissioned the app with funding from the Ministry for Primary Industries.
